SOCIAL CONVENCTIONS
Social convections are part of culture. They influence our minds since we were born depending on the place and the time we are living.
This are related with social stereotypes. It is in our hands to contructs a culture in which sterotypes don't have the value that they have nowadays.
I would like to show two videos that I watched in a subject of my degree in Primary School which is called Education and Educational context. There we can see how social stereotypes influence on children and also how stereotypes can make us laught!!
After seeing this once again I have to say that I don't consider it as culture but they are a fantastic way to show what I wanted.

"Un chien andalou"
With this post I would like to show the reflection that I've done after watching ''Un chien andalou'', I find it quite interesting because I see lots of similarities with two other artits that I like. Read it!!!!!!!!
My interpretation of Un chien andalou.
Un chien andalou remind me the Black Paintings made by Francisco Goya. This are a group of fourteen paintings from the later years of his life, likely between 1819 and 1823.They portray intense, haunting themes, reflective of both his fear of insanity and by then, his bleak outlook on humanity.
Also, un chien andalou remind me the book ''Luces de bohemia'' where apears the ''esperpento'' which is a way to distort reality, in the spanish literature created by Valle- Inclán ( the writter of the book ),he uses distorted descriptions of reality in order to criticize society. Leading themes include death, the grotesque, and the reduction of human beings to objects.
For me to stablish a relation between Black Paintings, the ''esperpento of Valle-Inclán and the film Un chien andalou makes sense. What Goya was trying to show remind me the fears and the panics that are showed in the film Un chien andalou, the distosion of the reality made by Valle-Inclan to criticize the society or a person in concret remind me also to the undertone of the film. And of course, because this two things make the reality different an horroros and difficult to understand like in a nightmare. And for me ''Un chien andalou'' is a nightmare, in which are shown brilliant metaphors , as in all the dreams or nightmares also.
In conclusion, for me they are looking to the world with the same eyes.

Culture is about gastronomy
As a little gourmet I could not consider food as culture and also as an art. An special one.
Every country is represented by its own food, by its tipical dishes. Those recipes represent the essence of the country throughout the ingredients tipical of the zone.
It is said that you can conquer the love of a man through the stomach? Well, with turist is the same!!! They feel fascinated for mediterranian food and Catalonia is one of the best.
I would like to post some recipes from my country or from some others and said that our recipies define us and they are part of our culture making us feel and enjoy!!!
Calçots, Xató, Pa amb tomàquet, Anxoves de l'escala, Coca de recapte, Escudella barrejada, From some other I like the most...Gazpacho, Salmorejo, Pintxos, Cous-cous, Paella, Fajitas...
And some other dishes... If you are wishing to taste it you cannot say that it is not art!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
See you!

FEMINISM
It is impossible not to do a reflection about feminism after women's day.
What is feminism?
Feminism is a collection of movements and ideologies aimed at defining, establishing, and defending equal political, economic, cultural, and social rights for women. This includes seeking to establish equal opportunities for women in education and employment. A feminist advocates or supports the rights and equality of women.
( see more in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Feminism)
As I did on the last post I would like to relate some artworks worked at class or some artworks that I know that can be related with this day.
For me the most impactant one was one video called ''3000 feminismos'', it make me laught but also reflect about womans right in nowadays society. But, even it make me feel and think I'm not considering it culture at all. I don't know if I'm beeing more critical since the subject started or simply is a question of stereotypes or fixed idees but I cannot considered this video culture or art at all, eventhough I recomend it to all kind of persons and I showed it to all my family!!!!
Also I want to use this post to talk about one of the most important problems of current society, in my opinion, which is gender violence.
As feminism is asking for the rights of womens one of them is the security. The security of beeing safe at home, in your job and alone.
During lots of years in my school which is IES La Llauna we work on that topic, because we considered it important. As I said, I like spots and to show how publicity can become art and at the same time make us reflect or raise awareness I would like to show some of them really shocking. Also I would like to show an spot that some of my schoolmates did fight against gender violence.
Also I would like to post some ''news'' that I find interesting in relation with the new law of abortion.

WOMEN'S DAY
From weekipedia:
International Women's Day (IWD), also called International Working Women's Day, is celebrated on March 8 every year. In different regions the focus of the celebrations ranges from general celebration of respect, appreciation and love towards women to a celebration for women's economic, political, and social achievements. Started as a Socialist political event, the holiday blended in the culture of many countries, primarily in Europe, including Russia. In some regions, the day lost its political flavor, and became simply an occasion for men to express their love for women in a way somewhat similar to a mixture of Mother's Day and Valentine's Day. In other regions, however, the political and human rights theme designated by the United Nations runs strong, and political and social awareness of the struggles of women worldwide are brought out and examined in a hopeful manner. This is a day which some people celebrate by wearing purple ribbons.
To celebrate the most important day ever created for us, I would give you some artworks related with womens in some kind of sense... As always, I would ask you if for you those pieces of art (in my opinion) can be considered as culture...or not????????

Me encanta cómo me hace sentir.
I could be all the day posting things.. but I also think that a person has to discover what is art and also what is culture on his or her own way. And in this way you can also see that there are only a few artworks in which womens don't appear, it is interesting to think about it....
What is in this post today is culture for me: the culture of some sentences, paitings, songs, sculptures or significant parts of films and books. They make me feel and reflect, I can be for a long time reading, seeing or listening and thinking, it always make me feel.
Enjoy it, I do it!!!!!!!!!

Culture is about LOVE.
)
Um, wow. I don't know if it's the song selection or because it's in black and white or the fact that everybody in this video is so attractive, but what started out as incredibly awkward—seeing two strangers meet each other and kiss—turned into something pretty damn beautiful. The premise of the video, called First Kiss and directed by Tatia Pilieva, was to get 20 strangers and have them kiss each other for the first time. It gets electric.
It's cute to see the strangers be all hesitant at first (as most sane and sober people would be!) but once they go for it, it's like watching fireworks, man (as barf-fully cheesy as that sounds). It's unexpectedly touching, like watching a documentary turn into a romantic comedy that doesn't suck. Anyway. Free kisses for everyone!
''El amor mueve montañas''
Is culture about love?
In fact, this love, if we can call it like love, make a really artwork, even better than we have expected. Definetly I think that culture is totally about love, there are different types of love and culture is always showing one of them...''El amor mueve montañas''
Virginia Woolf- A room of one's own
During these weeks we have been working on Virginia Woolf's book called Room of one's one. We were asked to a do a project, in group, the whole class, to represent the book and also Virginia Woolf in relation with the women's day, the 8th of March.
After long discussions, we decided to do a big poster in which we will put a in big 8th of March, and also baloons with sentences of famous womens as Virginia Woolf sentences.
This was the result:

Culture is about TRADITION
Different topics that we have been talking about in class make me reflect about what we are talking about when we talk about the culture of a country and at the same time if this is the kind of culture that we are working at class.
I've trying to establish a relation between both, but is difficult. I still thinking that we are what we are in consequence of our culture. This culture, the place, the weather, the lenguage, the costums... this is determining us since we are born.
So... can be the culture understood as the tradition of a place?????
Once again I would show it through and advertaisement... which is this... Don't forget to see it. Is about Catalonia, my country!!!!!
Well, throughout advertisements like this we see some characteristics of differente cultures, in this case Catalan culture. But, this kind of publicity not only shows the beautiful face of a country. In those adversisements also appears stereotipes (some day I will talk about them because is a part of culture) .
Culture, tradition and stereotipes are a whole that the publicity uses with different aims: humor, turism or promote patriotism...
Let's see some of them
Patriotism in christmas...
Promoting catalans steriotipe of effort while promoting FCBarcelona...
Make humor with americans customs, stereotipes...
